Shauna’s Story

KATIE

“I was raised Catholic, only attending on holidays and abiding by the ‘rules’, although I never truly opened a Bible, prayed or had any sort of relationship with God. I lived a life without Christ. Shortly before meeting my husband, Matt, I attended a church with a friend. I only went once, but I was interested…interested in what I had been missing. I met Matt, we started dating in 2011, and soon after we started attending Church of Hope together. In January 2012, I was sitting in my mother-in-law, Debbie’s, living room, and accepted Christ. I was thirsty for a relationship with Jesus! After getting married, I was so ready to have a baby and start a family, but it just didn’t happen overnight. I was discouraged, worried, and was faced with ruining my marriage because of my fears. I fell to my knees, fully jumping into the story of Jesus, fully trusting His plan for me and Matt. The very next month, I found out I was pregnant with our first son, Brady. My Hope in Christ has grounded and sustained me, giving me confidence that God is good and He can be trusted, and that He does have a plan for my life!”

MATT

“I grew up in a Christ filled home. My parents instilled Christ into every facet of my life. However, when I went away to college, I pondered why did I believe what I believed. Why should I be living my life for Christ? I struggled with the fact that I had not discovered Hope in Christ for myself. Was I only a Christ follower because that is what my parents told me to do? I wrestled with this issue and grew frustrated with God when my life was not unfolding how I thought it should be. My life was not going according to my plan. This was a constant struggle until 2011. I attended an Easter Sunday at Hope and it hit me like a freight train. Who was I to tell God how my life should go? I invited Christ back into my life that beautiful Sunday morning. Discovering Hope in Christ is the greatest revelation that I have ever had.”
